Maxfield Parrish: The Poster Book Details

About the Author Alma Gilbert has been dealing in Maxfield Parrish originals since 1974 and was founder and director of the Maxfield Parrish Museum for eight years. As collector, dealer, and curator, Gilbert has seen most of the original Parrish works pass through her hands, and has owned many, if only briefly. She lives on Parrish’s Plainfield, New Hampshire, estate, The Oaks, where she can study the surroundings that inspired him. Ms. Gilbert currently runs the Cornish Colony Gallery and Museum, a nonprofit foundation that features extensive yearly exhibits of Parrish and other major local artists. Read more

Reviews

I like Maxfield Parrish's Art. This collection of posters is very nice for the most part. However the colors printed in the Mazda Collection's "Egypt" ("The Light of Egyptian Nights') are not those of the original which was done mainly in Parrish Blue and dark purples with the yellow glow of the Mazda lamp illuminating the picture. Instead the print is shown in daylight and the colors are in yellows to light browns. A very different effect and not at all good for advertising electric light. There are also supposed to be "frames" around some of these posters. For the most part these are not included in the prints. This particular poster from the Mazda Collection,"Egypt" complete with the printed Art Deco frame seems to be out of print . I would like to find one though.
